Fu Bihong

Deputy Director & Professor

Introduction

Fu Bihong is the Deputy Director of International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage under the auspices of UNESCO (HIST). He is also serving as a Professor of CBAS. As a chief scientist, Prof. Fu is distinguished for providing worldwide leadership and innovation in the emerging field of promoting, testing and demonstrating the applications of space technologies for the conservation, management and sustainable development of UNESCO-designated sites (globally significant natural and cultural heritage, biosphere reserves and geoparks) with global partners to contribute to the implementation of convention concerning the Protection of the World Natural Heritage and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He has ample experience in space technologies helping to assess and conserve various UNESCO-designated sites. His current work focuses on adapting space technologies to meet the SDGs assessment needs (mainly for SDG 11) of developing countries including Pakistan, Cambodia and the Central Asian countries. Prof. Fu also conducts interdisciplinary work combining, remote sensing, earth sciences, and other fields of study to assess time-variant model of geological disaster risk in the various UNESCO-designated sites.
