Liu Jie is the Deputy Director of International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage under the auspices of UNESCO (HIST), she also concurrently serves as the Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director of the General Office for the "Big Earth Data Science Engineering" Program, a Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Secretary-General of the Digital Belt and Road (DBAR) Program. Since 2019, she has been a member of the National Committee of Experts on Chinese Language Translation. In recent years, she has published nearly 20 papers in international academic journals.
